CITIES
- SEVILLE
Seville is indeed one of the liveliest cities
of Spain. Despite having been occupied by the Moors for more
than 700 years, it has jealously guarded its cultural supremacy.
The fertility of its soil and its balmy temperature –
over 3,000 hours of sunlight throughout the year and temperate
winter climate - long ago attracted Phoenicians, Carthaginians
and Romans alike. The legend of Don Juan originated in Seville;
Christopher Columbus set sail for the New World from a port
very near this historic city; the voluptuous Carmen toyed with
the hearts of Don José, the army officer and Escamillo,
the bullfighter on the streets of Seville… A visit to
Seville is a walk through the heart of andalusian culture and
its vivid history embellished with corridas, flamenco and exotic
cuisine. |
