CITIES - MALAGA
Malaga, the coastal capital of the Costa del Sol, is a bright
jewel set on the banks of the Mediterranean Sea. The sandy
beaches of this southern European attraction draw a number
of tourists each year. As well, the province of Malaga boasts
a fine assortment of golf courses. The city itself, with a
population of 600,000, features a network of freeways that
connect it to the province of Andalusia. In addition, it prides
itself on having one of the largest international airports
in Spain as well as one of the major commercial ports of call
in Europe. Malaga welcomes its visitors all year round to
enjoy its warm climate, its splendid beaches of fine sand
and a wide assortment of gastronomical delights.
For the greater pleasure of history enthusiasts, it is well
known that a host of illustrious “conquerors”
have left their imprint on Malaga’s history, particularly
around the fortress of La Alcazaba, the castle of Gibralfaro,
the splendid cathedral, and the Roman amphitheater. As well,
a wide range of cultural and sports events attract tourists
throughout the year to this colorful andalusian city: there
are film and drama festivals, exhibitions and concerts as
well as regattas and other sporting events. In the spring,
visitors are welcome to attend Holy Week festivities (Easter),
and later, the August Fair awaits them at the end of the summer
season. What a pleasurable way to enjoy an unforgettable holiday!
